GLOBAL SCHOOL MISSIONS
Global School Missions (GSM) was founded in 2001 by Amos Chipasha with other community friends as a youth organization that seeks to improve the welfare of young people in the Zambian Copperbelt. Our purpose is to reach out to young people in schools, churches, streets and communities on the Copperbelt with the message of true self-discovery” Global School Mission seeks to improve the well being of our youths in our societies today and does this by offering free Information Communication Technology (ICT) related Courses and motivational lectures and youth clubs as well as planned youth activities like farming, small scale businesses which will help boost the welfare of our vulnerable youths in our economically troubled towns.
VISION
We are believing to see a generation of young people who will be positive in everything that they do, young men and women who will work on discovering who they are and what they were meant to do in life. A GOD fearing generation that will use their skills and talents to spread the word of God, to fight poverty and many problems that they are facing at the moment. A generation with a purpose, a generation that is morally upright.o “Since Global School Missions is being developed as an information center”, we will gather information on important issues so that people can access that for free and at a moderate cost sometimes. This will greatly motivate people to find many ways of doing and achieving new and productive adventures in there given societies.
o “Looking at the number of young people in Zambia dieing from AIDS, we believe as Global School Missions that, there is a great need for us to also include a portion in our Curriculum where we will tackle issues concerning the dangers of uncontrolled sexual behavior especially with the young people. We intend to produce computer fliers and other documents with information on HIV/AIDS. We will include more about AIDS in our Monthly GSM Newsletters to create awareness about the tragedy of HIV/AIDS. In this way we will provide a counseling network for people suffering from the disease and who might be too afraid at least initially talk to somebody personally.
o Café’s will be staffed by teams of Zambians. Teams will have at least a good number of IT(Information Technology) experts, a good number of teachers and community development specialist. Each team will develop project and business plans for each area of café operation.
o There would also be “walk-in” customers, not only using the computers but buying coffee, purified water ,snacks and other important things like books and newspapers. Each café can expect to receive 30 of these customers per day. These will be income generating ventures and will create employment to atleast a number of people who will be responsible for cooking ,food preparations, sales activities etc.
o Provide free online/offline computer training and educational courses, especially through our continuing link GCF Global Learning; offer Internet facilities at a moderate fee per minute; use the Internet facility as a research tool on important issues; do Internet searches for companies and other groups in Chingola and ask a fee for our services. We will facilitate as information brokers or information facilitators; develop websites for companies and groups in the Copperbelt area; and utilize the computer center and related services as youth empowerment and development center”.
